SHAREWARE - This is a demo release !!
This piece of software is made for all the people out there, who need in
any way help for creating HTML/Javascript based picture galleries, docu-
mented photo series or even a whole product catalog with product descript-
ions and ordering possibilities for Online-Shops.
MakeHTMLMap takes some inputs, and depending on the desired Maptype it
creates all the needed HTML/Javascript files for the gallery system. These
files must be copied to the desired hompage folder and you must set a link
to jump into the gallery, thats all.
Of course, you can also hold the files in a seperate directory on your
harddrive, if you just wanna use the system to create an overview of the
pics you've collected on your drive.
- Program was tested by the german AmigaPlus Magazin, got from top til' bottom
good critics and an overall rating 5 of 6 Boing Balls. Read the test in A+
issue 9/2003 page 25.
- Please take a look into the included AmigaGuide® file or HTML-Document for
a list of features and further informations.
- Or, if you don't want download and unpack the archive first, then visit
my homepage (see above). There are two sample galleries created with this
program, so you can imagine what MakeHTMLMap can do for you.
- You may also point your Browser to:
https://secure.reg.net/product.asp?ID=13222&TemplateID=-1
there you get some Screenshots and a list of most important features, also
you could register immediately, but you are required to have an activ/valid
e-mail address for this.
- IMPORTANT: Read also History for latest updates/changes/bugfixes etc.

Lesen Sie
besuchen Sie einfach meine Homepage (s. oben). Dort sind zwei Beispiel-
Galerien, die mit diesem Programm hergestellt wurden. Daran können Sie dann
sehen, was MakeHTMLMap für Sie machen kann.
- Sie können auch auf folgende Adresse gehen:
https://secure.reg.net/product.asp?ID=13222&TemplateID=-1

https://secure.reg.net/product.asp?ID=13222&TemplateID=-1

=============================================================================
History:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
v0.000-v2.193 (Dec'02 - Jul'03)
- many shitty, buggy, nerving and hairy internal versions ;-)
- many problems with f*cking Windows Internet Explorer, unbelieveable
how different you can interpret the same word of the same language ...
- unfortunately, Amiga browsers Voyager and IBrowse doing the same BAD
things like IE, not fixed yet, but I guess with AWeb and IE the most
people in the world are able to view the galleries
- need somebody to test the galleries on Netscape browser, contact me ...
v2.194 (21.07.03)
- First public pre-release
v2.209 (28.07.03)
- bugfix: if width/height of a picture could not be determined and no
thumbnails were used, then the full size picture was inserted as thumb
instead a scaled copy of it, this is because width/height is zero in
that case and damn, you cannot scale nothing (zero) :-(, so I simply
assume a size 640x480 in those cases, just to have something to scale ;-)
I know, it's not the best solution, but at least it works until I will
have better idea
- support for NetPBM (PNM/PGM/PPM/PBM) graphics added
- non supported graphics/fileformats cause an fatal error now, immediatly
aborting the compiling process, earlier they were simply taken without
processing, causing empty/misformated table entries in the gallery
- changes in some JavaScripts to better support IBrowse (v2.3+), need
somebody to test galleries with full version of IBrowse 2.3, because
it seems the remaining errors in the scripts are caused due to the
limits of the demoversion (no multi window etc.), please contact me ...
- still working on the docs, damn I hate it ...
- oops, included wrong version of »extra.library«, guess some people were
very annoyed about it, but don't worry - please try again now ...
(Thanx to Krister S. Skrtic <transplant@home.se>, who immediatly sent
a report instead of simply gave up tryin')
v2.215 (03.08.03)
- First public release of the completed demo version archive
- finished documentation (english/german)
- changed demo limitations:
--> Items per Page now allows 4,8 and 12 (4 and 8 before)
--> 30 files will be processed now (10 before)
--> added thumbnail fakes, only every 3rd is functional now
- added an empty prefs template to the archive, see docs/Installation
to get a hint why
- removed all documentation stuff from generated file »dataobj.js« to
make the file shorter for internet use (save a bit loading time).
Instead put the docs into the file JavaScript.guide
v2.244 (01.09.03)
- added simple support for thumbnail creation via arexx script,
controling the PPT image processing package (docs also updated)
- some minor bugs with document.write method fixed according to the
SelfHTML guide
- reworked automatic redirection to intro/prefs page, the visitor can
now choose if he wants to get redirected or rather want to stay with
default values, this is because intro/prefs page is still not working
correct with some browsers
v2.250 (07.09.03)
- fixed some minor bugs within ARexx script creation code, also updated
and improved the programs archive
- documentation updated and converted to HTML using GuideML
- included HTML-Docs for all people who don't want/like AmigaGuide®, or
who can't display AmigaGuide® for any reasons
- added Icons to anything, for what it makes sense to be started/called
from the Workbench (main executeable, docs etc.)
- adjusted window/icon positions, so the archive makes a good impression,
even in just extracted/not yet installed condition
- the archive don't really need a installation any longer (except from
extra.library and the PPT stuff). Just copy the library to LIBS: and
the rest of the archive can be used as extracted, which makes it easy
for people to do a quick testing of the program without the need to
install it first
v2.278 (05.10.03)
- fixed some dangerous conditions within menu handling
- changed all windows from GimmeZeroZero to normal borders/limits,
because OS 3.9 (gadtools, gadgetclass) seems to have problems
with GZZ windows
- major change: added »The Script Options Window« to the GUI to have
more control over script generation for PPT by Janne Jalkanen
- did all needed changes/additions to the Docs, and heavily improved
the HTML-Docs, which now should be used as prefered manual rather
than AmigaGuide®
v2.289 (16.10.03)
- fixed a bug with »GetPath« gadget, choosen path was taken even if the
user canceled the Directory-Request
- picture dimensions displayed on index pages and pic alternative texts
were wrong, in case a size limiting was done the old original sizes
were taken, fixed now
- added support for TIFF pictures (only uncompressed TIFFs)
- added two new settings for »Map Type:«, which are 'SlidePic' and
'SlideDoc'. These types offer the possibilities to show the Gallery
automaticly in slideshow mode
- the state of menu entry »Create Icons« is now saved with configs and
affect all parts of the program (creating Sessions/GalleryFiles sub-
directories, saving configs and icons for generated files 'intro.html'
and index file '...000.html'
- language system completly reworked, every page now only loads the
data, which are really needed for that page. This is first to shorten
the loading time on slow internet lines (56K Modem etc.) and second
to minimize the JavaScript overhead on maschines with slow CPUs
v2.297 (24.10.03)
- added some error messages shown to a visitor of a certain gallery, in
case correct dynamic page generation by JavaScript is not possible
- bugfix: resulting dimensions after a size limiting process were wrong
in case a convolution was done to sharpen the resulting picture. This
was, because after convolution a crop of the outer edges of the pics
is done, fixed now
- bugfix: some unterminated strings within compiler-code fixed, causing
deadlocks in certain cases
- added translations to french language (language system, Docs AG/HTML),
the job was done by Philippe <janocha@club-internet.fr>, thank you
very very much for this:
--> rsgCharset.cfg, rsgLanguage.cfg, rsgIntroTxt.cfg, rsgComments.cfg
updated with french strings
--> complete translation of AmigaGuide®-Documentation v2.250, o.k. it's
not up to date any longer, but should still help many people
--> also translated the introduction part of MakeHTMLMap.readme
- added a new directory to the Archive containing a GlowIcons-Set for
all available dirs/files. These were also donated by Philippe, Thanks...
v3.000 (15.11.03)
- final Version, all planed features implemented now, so bump to 3.000
- reduced Shareware fee by 33% from EUR 15,- to EUR 10,-
- new: possibility for online registration via Reg.Net
- updated docs for all new features and changed copyright conditions
- added error logfile for HTMLMap compiling process
v3.038 (07.02.04)
- some enhancements within internal JavaScript code (common.js)
- small bugfixes within compiler code, nothing serious, but the
code should be cleaner and more system friendly now
- bump revision system for language string [WEBDESIGN_COPYRIGHT]
added to track the current year displayed in string
- french documentation including all new features is completed now,
once again thanks to Philippe <janocha@club-internet.fr> for doing
the job ...
v3.062 (02.03.04)
- very dangerous bug fixed in the code segment, which is generating the
the language stuff, a system functions return value was interpreted
in an absolutly wrong way, can't belief such a stupid mistake happens
to me :-()
- another serious bug in language system: - warnings should appear,
if any string is not available in ANY certain language, but only the
FIRST missing language was recognized - as side effect of this, there
were always taken the default strings [NO_INTROTEXT_FOR_LANG] and
[NO_COMMENT_FOR_LANG] for ANY language, even for the existing ones
-- fixed now --
v3.091 (31.03.04)
- bugfix: dimensions of IFF ILBM pictures couldn't ascertained, if
BMHD chunk was not the very first chunk in the IFF file, i.e. due to
embedded NAME or ANNO chunks etc., now this doesn't matter anymore
- added a new warning message, if picture dimensions can't be ascertained,
but this really shouldn't happen anymore, it's just for the case of ...
- handling of icons fixed/reworked/improved, already existing icons will
really not overwritten now (according to docs section »Create Icons«),
new icons added for files 'HTMLMapError.log' and 'MakeThumbsPPT.prx'
- supporting default icons as provided by the NewIcons/GlowIcons packages
and other similar working icon systems, to obtain filetype specific
icons, as fallback method the standard AmigaOS based WBDRAWER/WBPROJECT
default (rom coded) icons will be used
- docs updated (»Create Icons« and »History« sections)
v3.116 (25.04.04)
- change: string gadgets for thumbnail extension and size limited pic-
tures extension changed to cycle gadgets
- added: a new setting in »The Script Options Window« to give more free-
dom to the size limiting of pictures. The setting is called »±1%:«.
- new: added more flexible possibilities for linking the Thumbnails to
its corresponding fullsize pictures. The pictures can be stored now at
any local or remote place and you can reference them by file:///, by
http:// or by ftp:// protocols. The setting is called 'Link Route:' and
is based on a request by Pierre Giroux <pierre1955@videotron.ca>.
- change: the »Local:« switch is removed, use the the new 'Link Route:'
"file:" instead, which has the same effect (see above)
- new: possibility for writing the generated files to harddisk rather
than to Ram Disk, this saves the memory needed for the generated files
on Ram Disk, if you're low on memory
- made the GUI more intuitive, means added complex mutual exclude func-
tions to enable/disable certain needed/unneeded settings depending by
other settings, also auto-popup »The Script Options Window« if thumbs
get deactivated ...
v3.123 (02.05.04)
- added: experimental support for TrueVision Targa (*.tga) graphics,
please send me any Targas which can not recognized by MakeHTMLMap
- corrected some spelling mistakes in german strings (configs/docs)
- some outputs of the demoversion will be encrypted now using JavaScript,
so the files are still working with a Browser, but it is much more
difficult to edit them manually trying to make them work as generated
by the fullversion of MakeHTMLMap
- corrected some JavaScript problems, the galleries are working now
100% with IBrowse 2.3
v3.143 (22.05.04)
- removed some death source code (which never was called (anymore))
- fixed a serious bug in MakeThumbsPPT.prx script generation code, in
certain cases an original picture was deleted, even if backups were
active (see »But keep Originals«)
- during size limiting process, pictures which not need to be downscaled,
will now automaticly converted, in case the process would also include
a change of the pictures file format
v3.164 (12.06.04)
- added a new error message for the 'Link Route:' settings, in case the
»URI-Body« is missed for http: or ftp: protocols
- updated english and german documentation for new features and changes
since v3.116 (25.04.04), updated french docs will follow later
v3.198 (16.07.04)
- improved some low level JavaScript functions, hopefully this solves
some still remaining problems with Netscape Navigator/Mozilla, please
let me know about...
- the default value for the »ShowIt« button (intro/prefs page) is now
set according to your given default language (see »rsgLanguage.cfg«
section 'initial vars to setup language system' [LANG_DEFAULT])
- improved navigation possibilities of the 'Alphabetic Quick-Index'
to avoid the need of extensive scrolling to reach a certain letter
- updated french documentation for all new features and changes since
v3.116 (25.04.04), and again many thanks to Philippe Janocha for his
continueing interrest to do the translations for this software...
v3.249 (05.09.04)
- bugfix in »±1%« code, range was checked as MIN < X < MAX and so missed
two pixels of the possible range, now the check is corrected to really
check the whole range, MIN <= X <= MAX
- small bug in mutual exclude routines of Main Window fixed
- nasty bug in cookie handling fixed, had problems if gallery files
were placed into a sub-domain level or deep nested directory tree
- internal filename quotation reworked, Connector Window and PPT (via
script) had problems with file/path names containing multiple spaces,
now any file/path name should be handled correct
- did extensive tests under WinUAE 0.9.90, had some doubts about some
low level stuff in extra.library and the ARexx-RawInsert combination
used with MakeThumbsPPT.prx script to generate thumbnails via PPT
--> no doubts anymore, everything is working exactly as on my real
A4000T, but much much faster (2.1 GHz :-))
--> tested components:
- extra.library - ok - make Gallery from/to Hardfile (.HDF) - ok
- MakeHTMLMap - ok - make Gallery from/to Hard-Directory - ok
- PPT direct use - ok - make Gallery from/to PC-Mounted drive - ok
- PPT via Arexx - ok - thumbnail generation via PPT - ok
- RawInsert - ok - connect/disconnect comments to files - ok
at any above mentioned location
